US employees and investors welcome Boeing deal with Qatar
US President Donald Trump’s trip to the Middle East has proven fruitful. Experts reckon that the talks conducted during this trip are sure to bring benefits to American companies. Following this tour, the American leader announced that Qatar had signed a record-breaking agreement with Boeing Co for the purchase of aircraft.
The deal is estimated at $96 billion and includes 210 American-made Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 777X aircraft, equipped with GE Aerospace engines. Following the news, Boeing shares soared by 2.5%!
President and CEO of Boeing Kelly Ortberg accompanied the US president in Qatar. He was present at the event when the order was signed. According to experts, this is the largest order in the aircraft manufacturer’s history for wide-body aircraft and the 787 model.
“Kelly said this is the largest aircraft order in Boeing’s history,” Donald Trump noted. The White House believes the agreement will support 154,000 jobs in the US annually. Overall, it is expected to sustain over 1 million jobs in the United States throughout the production period covered by this deal.
