Liverpool emerges as UK's crypto capital

An intriguing turn of events has unfolded in Liverpool. Believe it or not, the city has been crowned the new cryptocurrency capital of the United Kingdom, driven by soaring interest and widespread adoption of digital assets.

According to a survey conducted by telecommunications firm Openreach, Liverpool topped the rankings for crypto usage. The nationwide study of online habits revealed that 13% of Liverpool residents regularly invest in digital currencies and follow stock markets more closely than citizens in any other UK city.

Meanwhile, a poll by Openreach found that London led the way in dating app usage, while Sheffield took the crown for streaming and TikTok viewership. Still, it is Liverpool where a significant share of the population shows a strong inclination toward financial markets, particularly Bitcoin.

The survey also explored how much time Britons spend online. On average, UK residents spend three and a half hours per day on the Internet, with 20% admitting to being online for more than five hours daily.

Late-night browsing emerged as the most common habit, with 64% of respondents logging on between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., while others accessed the web during morning and daytime hours. The study also revealed a growing trend of digital fatigue. Forty-three percent of those surveyed felt they wasted time online, and 37% expressed concerns about doomscrolling. One-third of respondents believe their well-being would improve if they spent less time on screens.
