A 28-year-old man carrying two guns, ammunition and a Quran was arrested at a hotel in Disneyland Paris on Thursday afternoon. Hotel New York’s security team stopped the man when his bag went through the X-ray machine at the front door.
The French mass media suppose that the man was accompanied by a woman who managed to flee the scene.
The man is unknown to intelligence services and had been previously arrested only once for driving without a licence.
It is also known that the man had booked a room for two. According to the documents, he lives in Paris. The man offered no resistance as he was being taken into custody. However, he had a small booklet entitled “A guide to the Holy Quran”.
It was initially believed the man's companion - thought to be his wife or girlfriend - was arrested in the Paris region, however she is still on the run.
