Electric cars - a relatively new mode of transport - are steadily gaining popularity around the world. Electric car sales account for 1% of the total car market in the USA in 2019. This industry sector is gradually taking off. Thus, in 2018, 220 models of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids were sold worldwide, including 150 models in China. China's market share made up 56% of global sales.
