Peace Mission 2016 was the first multilateral joint anti-terrorism military exercise of SCO held in Kyrgyzstan. Over 1,100 military service members from Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan participated in the exercise.

The joint anti-terrorist exercise Peace Mission-2016 was held at Kyrgyzstan's Edelweiss high altitude proving ground in the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan.

Russia was represented as the tactical group with armored Tiger cars. The number of military personnel from the Russian side was about 500 people.

The joint troops that took part in the exercise comprised about 2 thousand soldiers, 300 combat vehicles and 40 combat aircraft units. The maneuvers were observed by more than 30 representatives of the military diplomatic corps from 15 foreign countries, as well as by the representatives of international organizations.

The heads of delegations that took part in the Peace Mission 2016 exercise noted the high level of organization of the event, stressed the need for such measures, and expressed willingness to further strengthen international cooperation and collaboration on joint counter-terrorism measures and maintaining peace and security in the region.
