Last Thursday, on December 8, in Magnitogorsk there were two-day test runs of the robot named FEDOR. The model was developed by the Advanced Research Foundation and the Android Technics SPA under order the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia as part of the Emergency response worker project.
The creation of FEDOR began two years ago. In years to come its primary target was meant to be assistance in space. It's expected that the robot will take up a crewmember function of the orbiter.
According to the Russian authorities' plans the model will be adapted to the new manual craft by 2021. At the time flight testing will begin.
The skills built in the robot's program are rather numerous. It is able to move in different modes, to drive and to work with household devices and instruments.
