The car is also noted as the best in design and has received the second title - World Car Design of the Year.
Outstanding representatives of passenger cars in 2017 were determined by the jury in five categories: World Car of the Year, World Performance Car, World Green Car, World Car Design and World Urban Car.
Among the premium cars (World Luxury Car), the winner was Mercedes-Benz E-class.
This competition has been holding for 12 years. The jury consists of 75 journalists from specialized publications from 24 countries, four of which are Russians. Another winner of the auto competition was Porsche. The roadster and coupe Porsche Boxster/Cayman got the title Sports Car of the Year.
