US eyes October deadline for global trade pacts

Could talks on global trade agreements really be about to reach the finish line? It is hard to believe, especially after all the sparks of mutual accusations that have been flying back and forth in recent months.

According to Nikkei Asia, a Japanese publication, the United States intends to conclude trade talks with multiple countries by the end of October 2025. This timeline was confirmed by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

In an interview with Nikkei Asia, Bessent said that the United States plans to wrap up negotiations with nations that still lack formal trade agreements by late October.

At the same time, the secretary acknowledged that maintaining balance in America's trade relations with other nations by the end of Donald Trump's presidential term might be a challenging task.
